Properly fit climbing shoes will take your climbing to the next level. Most climbing shoe retailers fit shoes by cramming your feet into the smallest size possible. Only Higher Ground Rock Climbing Gym offers a Phil Oren© certified, and master boot/shoe fitter-the only Phil Oren dealer and the only master boot fitter in Michigan*.
We start with designing a map of your foot. We accurately measuring your foot on the patented Brannock device. We find any bunions, corns, calluses, toe irregularities, heel spurs and any other foot conditions that may affect your fit. We then determine what type of shoe will work for your climbing needs-gym climbing, outdoors on long slab routes, bouldering, etc. All this helps us determine what shoe will work best for you.
The next step is to fine-tune your selection by taking the map we made for your foot and adjusting the shoe. This may require boiling the shoe to allow leather to stretch so the shoe fits properly, or adding foam to fill arches or other foot irregularities. In the end, you have a climbing shoe that not only performs on the rock, but fits your foot comfortably.

All this is done free of charge when you purchase your shoes from us. When you just want your size so you can purchase shoes elsewhere the charge ranges from $35-$70 depending on the work that needs to be done to get the best fit for you.
We currently carry shoes from what we believe to be the best brands in the industry. Our current line up is Scarpa, LaSportiva, 5.10, Evolv, Climb-X and CaVa. We carry more different brands than most stores have models
